Whipping Cream

A few days ago, I decided to make a cream cheese pretzel-crust pie with strawberries. I do not know why.

I'll be honest: I hate cooking. The shopping. The preparation. The waiting. The heat in my kitchen. The abysmal size of my apartment. The underwhelming final product. The cleaning. What part of it is enjoyable?

...At least, that is how I used to think about cooking. But now, I am a changed person. I no longer hate it. I sort of do, but not really. Because something fantastic has happened.

While I was making the cream cheese pretzel-crust pie with strawberries, one of the steps was to whip the heavy whipping cream with an electric mixer. Of course I can't afford such gadgetry, nor do I even know what that is, so I found a whisk and whipped the heavy cream in a bowl myself, as I had read in some British thing or other that that is how they used to do it. I was doubtful and very tired, but do you know how amazing it is, what a sensational feeling, to see heavy whipping cream turn into whipped cream? Do you?

If you do not, I have some excellent news for you. You will soon experience something fantastic, if you do what I did, and you wait, and you see. What a great idea is heavy whipping cream! To watch it transform into something delicious! It has changed my life, and now I will cook, and I chase that feeling again and again.
